Biography
Adrian Bury (b. London 1891 - d. 1991), son of a sculptor and nephew of the sculptor Alfred Gilbert (on whom he wrote a monograph), first worked as an office boy in a tobacco-pipe factory, whilst attending evening art school. In 1914 he went to Paris to study at the Académie Julian, Paris, and then at Atelier Colarossi. He became a freelance writer and cartoonist, joined the Graphic Photo Union, then the Bystander and then the Sunday Pictorial. In early 1920s studied art at English School in Rome. He then lived in Lonodn and exhibited at the RA, Leger Gallery and RWS. His autobiography, Just a Moment, Time was published in 1967. Other books include volumes on Francis Towne and Reginald Eves.
