Biography
Claudi Casanovas (b. Catalonia, Spain) studied theatre in Barcelona in 1974. Subsequently he trained as a ceramicist in the Catalan city of Olot where he was a founder ,member of the Coure Potters' Cooperative from 1978 until 1987. In 1992 he won first prize at the III International Ceramics Competition in Mino, Japan. In 2004, he won a competition to create a monument against Fascism in Olot. This Memorial als Vençuts was installed in June 2006. He began exhibiting in 1981 and has had solo exhibitions at Erskine, Hall & Coe, London including at 15 Royal Arcade; Fitzrovia Chapel (both 2017); Quart Creixent (2014) and Lluna Nova (2013) and has participated in group shows there since 2013. His artworks are displayed in museum collections worldwide, including The Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg; the National Gallery of Australia, Victoria & Albert Museum, London and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
