Alfons Purtscher (1885 - 1962)

Biography

Alfons Purtscher (b. Austria 1885 -d. 1962) studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under the famous animal painter Heinrich von Zuegel (1850-1941), worked in Germany, then in Austria (where he was a member of Viennese "Hagenbund" in 1925-1935). After the Nazis had seized power in 1938, the artist emigrated to London.
