The New Art Centre was founded in 1958 by Madeleine Lola Margaret Ponsonby, Countess of Bessborough CBE with Caryl Hubbard (1933-2021), also committee member and Chairman of the Contemporary Art Society. The original gallery was located in Sloane Street, London. In 1994 it was relocated to Roche Court in Wiltshire, a nineteenth-century house in parkland becoming New Art Centre Sculpture Park & Gallery, Roche Court, East Winterslow and is still managed by Lady Ponsonby.
