Biography
The Parliamentary Art Collection (made up of the House of Commons and House of Lords Works of Art Collections) uniquely illustrates in paintings, sculpture and other types of artwork, the history of Parliament and British politics over the centuries. The Collection includes over 600 paintings, the majority dating from the 18th to the 21st centuries. Over the last 20 years, a contemporary collection has also been built up, which reflects the areas of the UK represented by Parliament. This has been an opportunity to support and showcase the work of living artists around the country. New works of art are actively commissioned and acquired for the Collection.
