Aage Valdemar Larsen Roose (1880 - 1970)

Biography

Aage Valdemar Larsen Roose (b. Kolding, Denmark 1880 – d. 1972) studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine arts, Copenhagen (1899-1901) and then was taught at the Artist’s Study School by Laurits Tuxen (1853-1921) and Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909). He went to Paris in 1905 where he attended the Académie Colarossi and travelled to England, Italy and Sweden, settling in Filipstad for a period, spending summers in Bohuslän and the Stockholm archipelago. He was painter of portraits, landscapes and animals and a printmaker. Roose married the artist Wanda Agnes Reichman (1882-1956) and from 1910 they exhibited together in Copenhagen and internationally.
