From 1984–6, Fisher was chairman of the Blackness Public Arts Programme, Dundee, where The McManus holds his work. He was initally influenced by the American sculptor Donald Judd, but developed his mature work which was built in plaster and used found material and could take some time to complete, to reflect contemporary issues.
