Marjorie Kathleen Rowles (b. Gloucester, UK – d. 1971) studied at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1918. Her style was influenced by her tutor Philip Wilson Steer (1860-1942). The only painting by her in a public museum in the UK, The Coming Thunderstorm, purchased by the Contemporary Art Society in 1928 and donated to Graves Gallery, Sheffield in 1931 is a favourite among visitors.
