Biography
Rene Matić (b. Peterborough, UK 1997) lives and works in London. Their work addresses themes of identity and nationality, as well as feminism and queerness. Matić’s work often references skinhead sub-cultures using them to queer and show the connections between West Indian and white working-class culture in Britain. Recent solo shows include South London Gallery; Quench Gallery, Margate, UK (both 2022), flags for countries that don’t exist but bodies that do, Arcadia Missa, London, UK (2021), Born British Die British, VITRINE Gallery, London, UK (2021).
