Richard Perry (b. Nottinghamshire, UK 1960) studied Fine Art at Leeds Polytechnic (1978-81). Perry's sculpture, drawing and painting has been exhibited widely, including recent solo shows in London and Nottingham. Richard has also fulfilled many commissions for large sculpture in public spaces, notably Quartet (1986), four over-life-size figures in bronze, commissioned by Nottingham City and County Councils, sited in the Old Market Square; Tree (1991-2), a carved Portland stone sculpture commissioned by Northampton Borough Council for the new Guildhall extension; and in Conventions (1992), a carved-oak relief for Birmingham City Council; Fountain Trees in Basingstoke; the Needle and Freedom Tree in Jersey; and four carved oak doors for Newark Library (1988); and the Starstone (2020-11) in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. The Morris Singer Foundry cast Perry’s work, which called for much attention to detail. He has exhibited widely in Britain from 1984, later exhibitions including The Palace of Culture in Poznan, Poland, and Contemporary Art Society Market (both 1992); and 1st RWA Open Sculpture Exhibition (1993). Perry designed and carved stonework for the remodelled Peace Gardens in Sheffield, which received a RIBA National Urban Design Award. His work is held in collections across the UK, and in Europe, the USA and Japan.
