Roger Ackling Walter Roger Ackling (1947 - 2014)

Biography

Roger Ackling (b. Isleworth, London, UK 1947 - d. 2014) studied at St Martin's School of Art, graduating in 1968. There he met his lifelong friends, the land artist, Richard Long (b. 1945) and Hamish Fulton (b. 1946). He taught at the Wimbledon School of Art in 1970s and at Chelsea School of Art, with Trevor Sutton from 1980s, until 2012. He lived by the sea in North Norfolk, with his wife, Sylvia Crowther, whom he had married in 1986, where he used material found on the beach for his artwork.
