Stephen Barclay (1961)

Biography

Stephen Barclay (b. Ayrshire, Scotland, UK 1961) lives near Arbroath, Angus. He did degree and postgraduate studies at Glasgow School of Art (1980–5). He gained a Hospitalfield Summer Scholarship, 1983, and an Adam Bruce Thomson Award, 1984. His group shows  include Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts (1984); Compass Gallery, Glasgow (1984–5); Warwick Arts Trust (1985); Clare Hall, Cambridge, New Art from Scotland (1986); and Galerie Bureaux & Magasins, Oostende (1991). Barclay had a solo show at Paton Gallery (1987), and a series at Raab Galerie, Berlin and London, (1989); Northlands Festival, Caithness (1994), and Duncan R Miller Fine Arts (2004). Bolton Art Gallery, Library and Museum, Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry and Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York hold his work.
