Biography
Tim Jones (b. UK 1950) studied at Berkshire College of Art (1967-8); High Wycombe College of Art (1968-9); St Martin’s School of Art (1969-72); Central School of Art (1976); and Royal College of Art, London (1977–80). Jones was awarded the Mark Rothko Memorial Trust Award in 1980, and Calouste Gulbenkian Printmaker Award in 1982. He was artist-in-residence, at Borough of Lewisham (1982–3) and gained a commission for Brunel University Music Room (1981) and in 1983 for Lewisham’s Ladywell Baths. Mixed shows have included the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition from 1979; John Moores Liverpool Exhibition in 1980 at the Walker Art Gallery where he was a prize winner; Contemporary Artists in Camden in 1981 at Camden Art Centre; and 10 London Printmakers, St Pancras Library in 1983. Jones took part in a five-person exhibition at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham in 1983. He had a solo show at John Holt Gallery in 1978, and the ICA, 1983, amongst others.
