

Ulrica Hyde (b. UK 1911 - d. Berkshire, UK 1987) was an illustrator and sculptor whose composite illustrations appeared in the first edition of Foundations in the Dust: A Story of Mesopotamian Exploration (Oxford University Press, 1947) by her archaelogist husband Seton Lloyd (1902-1996), whom she had met in Baghdad and married in 1943. 'Hydie' was a former Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) company commander (captain) driving huge tank transporters across the desert as a Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) sergeant; she continued driving long-distance runs to Palestine and Tehran whilst living with her husband in South Gate, Iraq.
