CAS Conference: On Radicalism (1 May 2025)

On this day, we will focus on the concept of radicalism within the context of museums and curatorial practices. Our main objective is to examine how art collections shape narratives and the politics of representation that influence them. From this foundation, we aim to present proposals that can reshape and transform these narratives. We are excited to welcome wonderful speakers, including Katya García-Antón, Director and Chief Curator of Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum, who will share insights from her research on Sámi contemporary art in the Arctic and discuss her ideas on ‘practicing resistance' within cultural institutions. Sepake Anigiama, Artistc Director of Iniva, will explore her work on 'radical pedagogies' and 'unlearning processes'. Additionally, Dr. Clare Carolin, Senior Lecturer at Kings College, will present her research on museum archives as sources of information, opening up a potentiality for radicalism. More speakers to be confirmed. The Study Day/Conference will be held at the Swedenborg Society in London.
