Biography

The Society of Graphic Art originally stipulated that it would 'maintain the intersts of all those forms of art that do not use colour as a form of expression'. It was founded by Frank Lewis Emanuel (1865-1948) and held an annual exhibition for prints and drawings in the Royal Institute Galleries between 1921 and 1940 under presidency of Sir Frank Brangwyn, RA (1867-1956). Over the years it adopted the use of colour and in 1986 it was renamed the Society of Graphic Fine Art. Today, the SGFA have more than 130 elected members across the UK — professional artists from all areas of the art world who work in all drawing and printmaking media.
