Biography
Agano Machiko (b. Kobe, Hyogo, Japan 1953) studied at Kyoto University of Arts, Japan (1979) and became a Professor at Kyoto Seika University (1995). She won the Kyoto Art and Culture Prize in 2006. She has exhbited in Japan and inetrnationally including: Textural Space-Contemporary Japanese Textile Art, Brighton Museum, UK - tour 4 places in UK (2001); through the surface, Surrey Institute of Art & Design, UK - tour 4 places in UK (2004); Confronting Tradition-Contemporary Art from Kyoto, Smith College Museum of Art, MA, USA (2005); 5th International Textile Triennial Exhibition, Belgium; Out There, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich, UK (2005); ‘05 Kaunas Art Biennial/M.
