We are very pleased to announce that over £70,000 was raised at the Artist’s Table with Conrad Shawcross on 23 February 2017, hosted by Contemporary Art Society Trustee Dasha Shenkman OBE and supported by LGT Vestra. Wine was specially provided from Italy by Fabiana Marenghi Vaselli Bond.

Shawcross cooked a dinner in his studio for 84 guests and generously produced an edition of 50 small-scale sculptures, 30 of which were made available exclusively to the Contemporary Art Society guests and sold during the evening. Attendees were treated to a special performance of his Ada Project with Mira Calix, fresh from composing at the RSC for a production of Julius Caesar. Sculptures by Shawcross featured throughout the space and a giant tetrahedral cake formed the centrepiece of the drinks reception.

The Artist’s Table is a series of bespoke experiences hosted by an internationally recognised collector and an artist of their choice. Each artist has a special relationship with the Contemporary Art Society and has a unique approach to this opportunity for collectors to have an in-depth experience of their world. So far these have included Antony Gormley, Isaac Julien, Goshka Macuga and Haroon Mirza.

All funds raised will go toward the acquisition of important new work by contemporary artists for our 70 Museum Members across the UK.
