Biography
Herbert George (b. Seattle, Washington, USA 1940) studied at the University of Washington (1963) and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1965) and sculpture at the University of Pennsylvania (1966). He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of London (1966-67). George was artist in residence at schools in Austria, Germany, and the United States before taking a position as an adjunct professor from 1985-86 at Cooper Union, New York. He relocated to Chicago in 1986 to join the faculty at the University of Chicago, Illinois.
