Biography
Gitte Jungersen (b. DEnmark 1967) studied at The Danish Design School (now Royal Danish Academy, School of Design), Copenhagen (1988-93) and College of Art and Design, Bergen, Norway (1992). She is a Danish ceramic artist, living in Copenhagen. She has participated in many group exhbibitions and her solo exhibition include: There is constantly something happening (with Caroline Slotte), Peach Corner, Copenhagen (2023); Ruin, Officinet, Copenhagen (2022); Little Hybrids, A. Petersen, Copenhagen (2019); Now & Here, Bagsværd Church (2017); Fireworks (with Kristine Tillge Lund), Gustavsbergs Konsthall, Sweden (2016); Gitte Jungersen and Yves Malfliet, PULS Contemporary Ceramics, Bruxelles (2015); Place to be Lost, Blås & Knåda, Stockholm, Sweden (2014); Setting the Stage (with Louise Hindsgaul), Copenhagen Ceramics (2012); Place for a Secret, Designmuseum Danmark and Gitte Jungersen and Kim Simonsson, Musee Magnelli, Vallauris, France (both 2008); Gallery Nørby, Copenhagen (2005) - where the Contemporary Art Society acquired her Cube Light Green (2005) for The McManus, Dundee; PULS Contemporary Ceramics, Bruxelles (2004); Cubes, Clara Scremini Gallery, Paris (2003); Format, Bergen, Norway (2000); Deform & Deform 2, Fifth Space, Kyoto, Japan (in co. with Flemming Tvede) (1995 & 1998); Nameless, Installation, Nansensgade 53, Copenhagen (1994).
Jungersen is the recipient of numerous honorary grants from the Danish Arts Foundation, The National Bank of Denmark’s Anniversary Foundation amongst others. Her works are exhibited internationally and are in the collections of amongst others Public Art Agency Sweden, The National Museum Stockholm, KODE Norway, Designmuseum Danmark, The Danish Arts Foundation, Musee Ariana Schwitzerland, Nordenfjeldske National Museum of Decorative Arts and Design Norway.
