James Morey Hockey (1904 - 1990)

Biography

James Morey Hockey (b. London 1904 – d. Farnham, Surrey, UK 1990) attended Goldsmiths’ College, London (1922–7), then went on to teach, being principal of Farnham School of Art (1945–69) and joint principal of West Surrey College of Art and Design (1969–71). He was a key figure in the development of art education and was for a time president of Farnham Art Society. He was noted for his flower paintings, exhibiting at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) and the New English Art Club.
