Biography
Dr Roger Cook (b. UK 1940) has been a visual artist, a male fashion model and a film extra Derek Jarman's The Garden (1990) as Jesus Christ. He is an academic art historian. He was a visiting lecturer at the Royal Academy Schools and Slade School of Fine Art and the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of London. In 2002 he completed a PhD thesis entitled: Coporealities: Masculine domination and the development of American male performance art He retired from the Department of Fine Arts, University of Reading in 2005. He has contributed publications on contemporary art and the work of the French sociologist of culture, Pierre Bourdieu and Jacques Rancière.
