

Carlo Dalla Zorza (b. Venice, Italy 7 December 1903 – d. Venice, Italy 12 January 1977) attended the Art Institute in Venice between 1921-26. He was a prize-winning landscape artist who participated at the Venice Biennale in 1924, 1926 and 1928 with graphic work, in 1934 and 1940 with paintings and in 1954 his works occupied a whole room. A picture of the coloured houses on the island of Burano by Dalla Zorza was purchased by Derek Hill (1916-2000) in Rome in 1959 for the Contemporary Art Society and donated to Dunedin Art Gallery, New Zealand in 1962.
