Biography
Florence Peake (b. London, UK 1973) is a London-based artist and choreographer trained in performance and dance. She did a diploma in Dance at Lewisham College (1992-94); Teaching Certificate in Skinner Releasing Technique (2002-04); a postgraduate in Contemporary Performance Making, Brunel University (2007-09); and an Advanced Teaching Certificate in Skinner Releasing Technique (2011). Her interdisciplinary work, made both independently and collaboratively, has been exhibited and performed nationally and internationally since 1995 in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Prague, Sweden and Latvia.
Peake’s work has been commissioned by and shown at institutions such as British Art Show 9 (2021-22), 58th Venice Biennale (2019), Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2018), De la Warr Pavilion (2018), CracOccitanie (2018), Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art (2013), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2012), NationalReview of Live Art (2009), and The National Portrait Gallery (2008). Recent solo shows include include Towner Eastbourne (2024); Southwark Park Galleries, London; Richard Saltoun Gallery, London (both 2023); PM/AM Gallery, London; Z20 Gallery, Rome (both 2021); CENTRO CENTRO, Madrid; and Bosse & Baum, London (both 2019). Recent group exhibitions include Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter (2023); GIANT, Bournemouth (2022); and Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GAMeC), Bergamo (2018-19).
