Eduard Pellens (1872 - 1947)

Biography

Eduard Pellens (b. Antwerp, Belgium 1872 - d. Antwerp 1947) worked in the workshop of his father, who was a metal engraver. From 1886 he took  the wood engraving course for many years at the Royal Academy of Fine Arst, Antwerp under  Edward Vermocken. From 1904, he taught at the new Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Pellens was an advisory committee member of the Museums of Antiquity and Applied Arts and was active in the artist circles Societé de la gravure sur bois de Paris , La Gravure originale belge and de Scalden.
