Amy Mary Horton Leeming (1877/78 - 1929)

Biography

Amy Mary Horton Leeming (b. Brentwood, Essex, UK 1877 - d. Holland Park, London 1929) was a cermacist and silversmith, in the style of H. G. Murphy or R. E. Stone. She married a solicitor, Frederick Toulmin Leeming (1861-1931) in 1905. In 1926 and 1928 she exhibited her ceramics at the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society at the Royal Academy She recorded her silver mark at the London assay office in 1920. She possibly trained at the Central School of Art. Her death is recorded as “suicide due to temporary insanity”, as she was found in her pottery studio.
