

Edith Meinel (b. Germany 1911- d. Germany 2003) began her career as a film and stage actress in the mid-1930s, based in Munich until 1942 when she moved to Vienna. She was a member of the ensemble at the Wiener Kammerspiele until 1949. In 1953 Edith Meniel largely ended her acting activities and worked as an artist. She created a series watercolours and etchings. In 1977, she was awarded the Schwabing Art Prize in the painting and graphics category.
