Biography
In 2000 Susanna Beaumont founded the contemporary art gallery, doggerfisher. Located in a former tyre garage on Edinburgh’s Gayfield Square, she commissioned Oliver Chapman Architects to transform the building into a dynamic gallery space.
doggerfisher fast became a widely-acclaimed and influential gallery, exhibiting artists from both Scotland and beyond. It supported the early careers of numerous artists and promoted their work internationally. These artists included Charles Avery, Claire Barclay, Sara Barker, Nathan Coley, Graham Fagen, Ilana Halperin, Louise Hopkins, Hanneline Visnes, Janice McNab, Rosalind Nashashibi, Moyna Flannigan, Lucy Skaer and Jonathan Owen. Through an ambitious programme of exhibitions, doggerfisher introduced its audience to the work of among others, including Nicole Wermers, Camilla Low, Katja Strunz, Karla Black and Duncan Marquiss. doggerfisher closed in 2010.
